Discernment Counseling for Couples

Discernment counseling is brief and designed to move you from “stuckness” or ambivalence into making a decision about next steps in your relationship. This process is suited for so-called “mixed agenda” couples in which one person is leaning out of the relationship and the other person is leaning in. The goal is to reach a decision about what happens next: stay the course, enter a separation or divorce process, or agree to attempt reconciliation.

You begin with two individual sessions followed by 1-3 longer joint sessions.

Cost: $300 per hour. The first two individual sessions (45 min) are $225 per session. Joint Sessions are typically 90 to 120 minutes long. Maximum of 3 joint sessions. Total cost estimate: $900 to $2250.

Getting Started: Book two individual sessions. Once confirmed, you’ll each receive an intake form to complete.

To ensure the integrity of my work, I maintain separate clinical and mediation practices. I do not provide mediation services to individuals or couples with whom I have provided discernment counseling, and vice versa. This allows me to provide clear, focused support in whichever role is most appropriate for your needs.
